COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Sahiwal Campus celebrated 73rd Independence
Day of Pakistan as “Kashmir Solidarity Day” to express full support to Kashmiri
brothers and sisters struggling for their right of self-determination from the brutality
of India.
Vice Chancellor of GC Women University Faisalabad Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq and Worthy
Director CUI, Sahiwal Campus Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat were chief guests of
ceremony.
Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat paid rich tribute to the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah and said that without his dynamic struggle, the dream of Pakistan
was almost impossible.
He also paid rich tribute to all those people and leaders who struggled for the
Pakistan. He said that the brutal Indian forces could not suppress the indigenous
struggle launched by the people of Kashmir for their legitimate right to self-determination
in line with the resolutions of the United Nations' Security Council.
He said that Kashmiris were fighting for their birthright for more than 70 years,
and expressed confidence that Kashmir would soon become a part of Pakistan. He was
of the view that the international community had expressed their deep concern over
the prevailing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) especially after revocation
by New Delhi of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution.He said Kashmiris
had great attachment with Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq said that this is the basic need of time to defeat our enemy
through education. She said if our generation is equipping with quality education
no one in this world can beat us. She emphasized that we should need to enhance
research-based education in our educational sector.Prof. Robina Farooq said that
today, let’s promise ourselves that we will serve this country with honestly and
wholeheartedly.
Rally was also organized within campus where faculty, officers and students participated
and demanded the United Nations to take notice of Indian army’s aggression in held
Kashmir. Emotionally charged participants, who were carrying flags of Pakistan and
Azad Kashmir, shouted slogans against Indian Prime Minister Modi and carried banners
like “Kashmiris in Pain; India in Shame”, “Kashmir: Nuclear Flashpoint” “Modi: Face
of Indian Terrorism”, “Indian forces out of Kashmir”, “Self-determination for Kashmiris”,
“Kashmir banega Pakistan. They demanded the withdrawal of Indian troops from the
Kashmir.
