CUI Leadership

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) started its journey in 1998, and established its first campus at Islamabad in April 1998. In August 2000, in recognition of CUI´s achievements, the Federal Government granted it the status of a Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) through promulgation of its charter. The CIIT is now upgraded as a university by the name of 'COMSATS University Islamabad' through an Act of the Parliament.

COMSATS Sahiwal Campus adheres to the philosophy of getting the stamp of excellence in the field of Science and information technology and becoming self-sustaining state of the art academic and research University and leading solution provider.

We aspire to produce unparalleled individuals who contribute to the world through their research and knowledge.

Message From The Rector

I feel honored to lead the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) as Rector and share with you my vision for CUI, which has always been an innovative institution of learning and development. Our focus in the coming years will be to transform CUI to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing technological environment as well as societal needs through the best affordable academic programs at par with leading global standards, within Pakistan. In short, we envision making CUI "the University of Choice" in Pakistan and across Asia. Although an ambitious vision, but I believe that the talent, skill and experience available at CUI will enable us to achieve success with dedication and hard work.

In the years to come, we will extend out-reach of CUI by adding new campuses capable of catering to the high-quality education needs of a larger canvas of aspiring students and researchers. In this regard, we will also encourage public-private partnerships which will pave the way forward and yield impactful results.

We are committed to making all out efforts to play our due role in minimizing the adverse effects of the global Coronavirus pandemic and bring to the forefront new technologies and pedagogies to achieve our goals.

I would like to assure the parents of our students that CUI will take all possible steps to ensure the safety and well being of your children enrolled at our campuses. We are also deeply committed to inculcate in our graduates the essential skills and professional talent that helps them to meet the needs of the fourth industrial revolution as well as impart industry and market relevant education.

Message From The Director COMSATS, Sahiwal

COMSATS University Islamabad is one of the most prestigious universities of Pakistan with its seven physical campuses and one virtual campus across the country, CUI distinguishes itself as a leading university in the higher education sector of Pakistan. It gives me an immense pleasure and honor to serve as Director COMSATS University Islamabad, Sahiwal Campus.

COMSATS University Islamabad has registered an exponential growth and success since its inception, which is quite unprecedented in the history of Pakistani universities. Within a short span of two decades, it has produced above eighty thousand graduates including 500+ PhDs serving in various capacities in the different organizations throughout the country and the world; and currently more than thirty-five thousand students are enrolled across its campuses. CUI stands out as a torch bearer of excellence among the universities in Pakistan as one of the leading emerging economy universities in South Asia and the world. It has been ranked high among Pakistani Universities by the national and international ranking agencies, such as Times Higher Education (THE), UK; Quacquarelli Symonds (QS); and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. With a clear vision and a mission to develop a world-class university in the Pakistan, CUI has formulated three-pronged mission: Research and Discovery; Teaching and Learning; Outreach & Public Service. CUI is committed to pursuing this mission diligently by producing, archiving, and innovating the knowledge.

CUI, Sahiwal campus was established in December 2006, since then, it has played a due role in uplifting and developing educational environment in the country and has established itself as a leading higher education institution in the region. Sahiwal campus stretches over an area of 36-acres with purpose-built buildings, it offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in seven departments under the Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Sciences, Engineering and Business Administration. The Sahiwal campus is committed to achieving CUI goals, vision and mission, and has established linkages with the local agriculture and dairy industry, which is a testimony to its commitment to public service.

Sahiwal campus focuses on delivering quality education to its students through highly qualified faculty and by incorporating latest knowledge advancements in course contents and delivery. The campus is focusing on developing Academia-Industry linkages, and for the said purpose it has signed various MoUs with many key organizations in the region. Sahiwal campus envisions to base its research activities on the real challenges and business problems faced by the local industry, so that both university as well as industry could reap the benefits from applied research through research collaborations. Moreover, Sahiwal campus will be launching PhD programs in different disciplines and is also going to start several more graduate and undergraduate programs as per demand of market and need of the country. In addition, the campus envisions to establish a state-of-the-art Research Centre to promote interdisciplinary research activities, and to establish research collaboration nationally and internationally.

We believe in transformation towards smart campus and enhancement towards self-sustainability through efficient resource management. We have ensured digital linkages among different departments of campus and are working towards environment friendly paperless communication within the campus with the state-of-the-art classroom infrastructure. There are three stages of progress: first is development; second is sustainability; and third is innovation. The campus has successfully completed its first phase of development. Currently, campus possesses resources in the form of competent faculty and basic infrastructural facilities as per requirements of the accreditation bodies such as PEC and NCEAC. Now it is the time to utilize its resource in an effective and efficient manner to attain self-sustainability through developing strategic and business model of the campus. Digital transformation, efficient resource management, and self-sustainability will ultimately lead towards continuous quality improvement at the campus.

I along with the support and cooperation of my faculty, staff, and community pledges to take this campus to greater heights, un parallel in the history of this region and the country; I vow to develop this university according to the international standards. I pray Almighty Allah to give us strength to fulfill this dream. Ameen!
