13th International Conference on Frontiers Of Information Technology

A three-day 13th international conference on Frontiers of Information Technology
(FIT-2015), organized by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) started
on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Serena, Hotel Islamabad.
The conference proceedings also include Best Innovation Technology Award (BITA-15)
amounting Rs. One Million for the best IT innovative proposal. The ceremony for
the award of BITA was held on 15th December 2015, at Pakistan National Council of
Arts (PNCA), Islamabad in which prize of Rs. One Million was awarded to Awais Shafique,
M Arslan, Hooria Annum and M. Raza Kazmi of National University of Science and Technology
(NUST), Islamabad for their innovative proposal.
Dr. Engr. Javaid Saleem Qureshi, Chairman, Pakistan Engineering Council graced the
event as Chief Guest. In his remarks he congratulated the winner of the Best IT
Innovation Award and hope that it will be translated into a successful product.
He also congratulated Dr. S.M. Juniad Zaidi, Rector, COMSATS Institute of Information
Technology and his team for introducing Best IT Innovation Award which recognizes
& encourage creativity in the field of Information Technology in a befitting manner.
The closing ceremony of International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology-FIT
2015 organized by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) was
held on December 16, 2015 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal
Minister for Science and Technology graced the event as Chief Guest. While addressing
the gathering he informed that Government is promoting International Cooperation
in the fields of Science and Technology through bilateral S&T Cooperation
Agreements signed with many countries. Efforts are also being made for availing
services of expatriate and foreign experts and trainings. Higher education of young
scientists and engineers in priority S&T fields, organization of joint research
projects, developing international networks and setting of Advance S&T Research
Centers are the priority areas of our government.
Dr. Haroon Rashid, Pro-Rector CIIT in his closing remarks, thanked the researcher
from all over the world who shared their research with participants. He also acknowledged
the organizers for successfully hosting the international event.
During the 3 days conference, a series of invited talks were organized as part of
technical sessions by world renowned scholars and researchers. A PhD symposium was
also organized in which PhD students presented their ongoing research. In addition,
tutorial sessions were also part of conference in which various topics of interest
for IT community were organized. Exhibition on undergraduate projects provided an
opportunity to the fresh minds to share their innovative ideas with the seasoned
researchers and scholars.
Cash prizes were awarded to undergraduate students in the category of computer science
and electrical engineering undergraduate students on exhibition of best projects.
In computer science COMSATS Sahiwal Campus secured first position to while Islamabad
Campus secured second position. In electrical engineering category, COMSATS,
Wah Campus secured first position while COMSATS Lahore Campus secured second position.
