126 students of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Sahiwal have
been awarded laptops under Prime Minister's Laptops Scheme. The laptops along-with
bags and Zong internet devices were handed over to students during distribution
ceremony arranged in CIIT Sahiwal campus.
Pir Imran Ahmad Shah Wali, Member National Assembly (MNA), Sahiwal was the Chief
Guest. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Masood Akhtar, Director N Shoes/ Former
City Nazim, Sahiwal, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Zafar, HoD, CS/ Director Academics, CIIT
Sahiwal, Mr. Mian Gul Muhammad, Additional Registrar, CIIT Principal Seat, Islamabad,
Dr. Ghulam Hussain, Incharge, MS department, Dr. Saeeda Usman, Incharge, EE department,
Dr. Awais Ihsan, Incharge, Biosciences department, members from civil society, media
officials, large number of faculty members and more than 300 students.
The Chief Guest was received by Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Zafar, Mr. Safdar Ali and
Mr. Arslan Safdar Dogar. Before start of the ceremony, a short meeting was arranged
in Conference Room which was attended by different heads of departments. The Chief
Guest was briefed about achievements, current projects and future plans of CIIT
Sahiwal. He appreciated the efforts of management and congratulated them for making
CIIT one of the best institutions in Pakistan in very short time. He desired to
extend his full support for further growth of CIIT Sahiwal campus.
The ceremony was started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Mr. Safdar Ali, Chief
Organizer shared opening remarks. He thanked to the chief guest and other participants
of the ceremony. He shared that 126 students of management science, computer sciences,
software engineering, telecommunication & networking, biosciences, mathematics,
electrical engineering and mechanical engineering have been selected for award of
laptops. He further shared that 42 students are females and remaining are males.
On behalf of Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director CIIT Sahiwal; Prof. Dr. Nazir
Ahmad Zafar, Head of Computer Science department extended his gratitude to the Higher
Education Commission and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for awarding these laptops
to students which will definitely help them to add value to their studies and research.
He further thanked to the Chief Guest for gracing this event with his presence.
Pir Imran Ahmad Shah Wali thanked to the Director CIIT Sahiwal, Prof. Dr. Saleem
Farooq Shaukat, Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Zafar and Chief Organizer,
Mr. Safdar Ali who invited him to be the Chief Guest. He congratulated all selected
students and advised them to focus on their character building and to contribute
for economic development of the Pakistan. He shared that under the leadership of
Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, the load shedding has been
curtailed from 18 hours to only 3 hours and the suicide attacks and bomb blasts
have been controlled remarkably. He added that the Prime Minister’s Youth Initiative
Program was launched in Year 2014 with objectives to empower our youth like you
to play pivotal role in economic development of the Pakistan. Laptop scheme is one
of the components under this initiative. During concluding remarks, the Chief Guest
congratulated all students for choosing one of the best education institutions in
Pakistan.
Before conclusion of the ceremony, all selected students were awarded laptops along-with
bags and internet device.
Moreover, 54 Ushers of “All Pakistan Laptopsdistributionceremony2016-IET Innovation
Event” were awarded certificates of appreciation.
At the end, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries were presented shields by Prof.
Dr. Nazir A. Zafar and Mr. Safdar Ali, Chief Organizer, CIIT Sahiwal.
